Update: Thousands Without Power in Bedford Hamlets

BEDFORD, N.Y.—The snowstorm that left part of Westchester powerless has hit the Bedford particularly hard, especially the hamlet Katonah.

According to New York State Electricity and Gas, of its 4,305 customers, 4,221 were still without power as of 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

Bedford was fairing no better on the NYSEG map. Of the 1,852 residents who use NYSEG, only 15 had power at 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

The Bedford Hills NYSEG count had 1,781 residents without power

According to its website, there were 206 Con Edison customers in Bedford without power Sunday morning, with the time of 11 p.m. Sunday night set as when it could potentially be turned back on.

However, the Bedford Police Department told residents to not count on too much help from the energy companies just yet.

"A vast majority of roadways in the Town of Bedford are closed due to fallen trees and/or potentially live wires that are down. At this time, both NYSE&G and Con Edison are unable to provide estimates as to when power will be restored,"  said the Bedford Police Department through its nixle account. "The Town of Bedford Highway Department is working to clear both primary and secondary roads, so please be patient. We will try to provide information as roadways are cleared."
