Update: Did You Catch Mitt?

Former Massachusetts Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney came to private party in New Canaan Monday night to support gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley of Greenwich.

But one partygoer at the home on Pastures Lane said he talked more about his own 2012 campaign than about local candidates. He talked and fielded questions for about 20 minutes, touching on foreign policy, government spending and other issues.

Romney took a hard stance against a "friendly approach" to hostile foreign governments, citing recent problems with North Korea as an example. And he said that some of the 60 percent of the budget going to entitlements had to be diverted to other areas. "He really went after entitlements, which was surprising," said the source.

Since the crowd was mostly filled with Romney supporters, the partygoer said they were "wildly enthusiastic" during and after his talk.

Romney officially endorsed Foley in March, saying he's "a smart businessman and a good problem-solver who can find and apply common sense solutions to the problems facing Connecticut. ... Tom is capable of putting politics aside and going to work on behalf of the people of Connecticut."
