On Saturday, April 19, 2025, Tyson was a detainee at the Atlantic County Justice Facility when he attacked a correctional officer trying to provide medication, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.
The officer was hit over 10 times in the face and lost consciousness, authorities said. The officer was hospitalized for his injuries, authorities said.
Tyson, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, was was incarcerated at the time after pleading guilty to possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, authorities said.
