PEEKSKILL Two city residents were arrested Thursday on drug related charges.
State Troopers arrested Anthony M. Pizzella, 22, of Peekskill, and charged him with driving while affected by drugs, a misdemeanor. Pizzella was stopped for speeding on Route 9 in Peekskill at 11:50 a.m. when police determined he was under the influence of drugs.
Pizzella is due in city court on July 14.
During that same traffic stop passenger Richard T. Washington, 22, of Peekskill, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Washington is due back in city court on July 14.
The arrests were part of a speed enforcement detail Thursday on Route 9. During the detail 66 tickets were issued for violations such as speeding, unsafe lane change and failure to wear a seatbelt.
