Two Darien Homes Broken Into

DARIEN, Conn. – Two houses were broken into in Darien last week, according to police reports. One, on Fitch Avenue, was entered Tuesday night, Sept. 22, while two of the residents were home. One was on the second floor with her son between 7:30  and 9 p.m. When she went downstairs, she saw that somebody had cut the screen and entered the house. Nothing appeared to have been taken. Police said the intruder may have realized somebody was in the house and left.

Burglars also broke into a house on Nature's Way on Saturday through a second-floor window. The owners were out of the house between 3:45 and 10 p.m., and returned to find a broken window in one of the bedrooms. There were tire tracks behind the house, and imprints in the ground from a ladder used to access the window. Police said that an undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from one of the bedrooms.

Also from the police blotter:

Jennifer Taylor, 45, of Greenwich was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Police said she was uncooperative after being pulled over. Officers noticed her driving near the entrance to I-95 south without a front license plate. When she got on the highway, she was switching lanes without signaling. She was eventually stopped near Exit 10.

Police said that she became very confrontational and would not give up her license until she was repeatedly asked. Officers then discovered that her license had been suspended since August. She was placed in the back of a police cruiser, but refused to put her legs in the car. She continued to argue with officers until they forcibly placed her legs in the car.

She was charged with interfering with an officer, failure to signal, failure to display a front license plate, operating with a suspended license and failure to return a suspended license. She posted a $1,000 bond and will go to court Sept. 30.
