Leaving the keys in the car didn't work out for two Norwalk residents Thursday. Both cars disappeared.
The first theft was reported at 9:21 p.m. The victim had gone inside the Woodworker's Club at 215 Westport Ave. at 6:30 p.m. and parked his Chrysler Town and Country in the rear parking lot. When he came out an hour later, it was gone. The keys had been in the car but not in the ignition.
The second theft was reported at 10:21 p.m. The victim was on his way to work late Thursday when he went into the Cumberland Farms at 136 Main Ave. He left his 2001 green Odyssey running in the parking lot. When he came out minutes later, it was gone.
Police were investigating both incidents.
Also on the police blotter:
In another Thursday incident involving a car, someone smashed the glass door at the Radio Shack on Connecticut Avenue by backing a car into it, police say. The store's alarm went off at 11:33 p.m. No one was there when police arrived, but tire tracks showed that a car backed into the store, Sgt. James Boff said. It was also obvious that someone had gone into the store, but it was not apparent what was missing. The store was closed most of Thursday, as store personnel did an inventory.
