MT KISCO, N.Y. If youre worried that your summer wardrobe is lacking some essential pieces, head over to The Twigs Thriftree thrift shop in Mount Kisco, which will remain open during the summer season this year.
The shop usually closes during July and August, but because it was out-of-commission for several months due to renovations, it will stay open.
From the business stand-point the board of directors thought it would be a good idea to stay open during the summer to sell more items. The revenues from the summer can help off-set the revenues lost due to the shop being closed for several weeks from the flood reconstruction, said Roberta Lasky, publicity manager for the shop.
With the shop open during the summer, residents will have the chance to find great deals on summer apparel.
People may be looking for children's clothes for summer (shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, sandals), as well as the upcoming school year as well, said Lasky.
Because of its location on the popular and busy Lexington Avenue, Lasky hopes that people passing by will stop in and check out the store.
All of the proceeds raised by the shop go directly to the Northern Westchester Hospital. In 1945, the Northern Westchester Hospital created The Twigs, which does a lot in the community to raise money for the hospital. The group has over 175 people who volunteer their time and effort to this cause. To date, nearly $3 million has been raised for the hospital.
The summer hours are as followed:
Shop is closed June 29 through July 6 for the 4th of July holiday.
Shop will be open July 7 through August 12, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Shop is closed August 13 through August 28 for summer holiday.
Shop reopens on August 29 for regular schedule of Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to noon.
