Currently, the pantry needs the following items:
- Canned fruit.
- Juice boxes.
- Snacks.
- Pancake/waffle mix (add-water-only variety).
- Syrup.
- Coffee – small.
- Toothpaste.
The pantry is able to exist almost solely through donations from individuals and groups throughout the community. Trumbull residents are an exceptionally generous group, but the organization said it can always use more. According to pantry officials, the number of families using the pantry has changed drastically over the last few years as more and more people struggle to feed themselves and their families.
Whether you are an individual who just buys a few extra things while you are at the supermarket or a community group that runs a large food drive, every little bit helps, they added. Any nonperishable food item, paper products, such as paper towels, toilet paper and toiletries, are always needed.
The Trumbull Food Pantry is at The Center at Priscilla Place, 23 Priscilla Place, off Huntington Turnpike near the Bunny Fountain and the Fairchild-Nichols Library.
Donations can be made directly at The Center at Priscilla Place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition to the Food Pantry drop-off site, there are two community locations. Donation boxes are available at the Trumbull Library, Main Branch, on Quality Street, and at Trumbull Stop & Shop on Quality Street.
