A topsy-turvy season in Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference boys basketball took another unexpected turn Saturday night. Eighth-seeded Trinity Catholic rallied from a 20-point deficit to stun top-seeded St. Joseph, 64-62, at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.
Trinity (13-8) will meet No. 4 Bassick in Monday's semifinals at the Webster Bank Arena at 6 p.m. Stamford meets Westhill in the second semifinal at 7:45.
Jonathan Boykin of Norwalk scored 21 points to lead Trinity. Schadrac Casimir added 17, including the game-winning free throws with 5.7 seconds left.
Oscar Assie scored 23 for St. Joseph (19-2), which led 54-34 late in the third quarter before Trinity rallied. Kevin Leume added nine for Trinity, which qualified for the postseason tournament by beating Wilton on the last day of the regular season.
