Trinity Shocked by Principal's Death

Just a few short days after the sudden passing of Trinity Catholic High School's beloved principal, Robert D'Aquila, over 600 people have joined the Facebook group "RIP Robert D'Aqulia." This is no surprise to any of the students, teachers or parents who knew him.

"He was a class act, and the best teacher I ever had," says Vanessa Poholek Fasanella, a Trinity alum. "He never raised his voice, he didn't need to. He commanded our respect with his confidence and straight-forwardness, and his knowledge of everything math. I was never bored in his class, always challenged, and always thought the world of him. My heart goes out to his wife and children."

D'Aquila spent 34 of his 56 years teaching at Trinity, and was made principal in 2003.

"No disrespect to the other teachers, but Mr. D'Aquila was definitely my favorite," says Marc Siciliano, who graduated from Trinity in 1994. "He inspired me to get into the engineering field. He'll be missed by all at TCHS–past, present, and future."

"Mr. D'Aquila wasn't just a good teacher, but was a solid guy, super nice and far too young to be gone," says 1992 grad Nick Cappiello.

D'Aquila's death serves as a double blow to the Trinity community, which is still reeling from the loss of assistant principal Kevin Sutton. He died of cancer last month at the age of 38.

There will be a candlelight vigil on Tuesday night in the school's parking lot at 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.
