NORWALK, Conn. Three family members were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a chance encounter led to a domestic dispute with loud screaming and yelling in public, Norwalk Police said.
Konstatino Stefanidis, 35, of 133 Musket Ridge Road in Norwalk also threatened to punch a bystander, who wasn't involved in the dispute with his sister and soon-to-be ex-wife outside the Main Avenue Starbucks, according to Police Sgt. James Walsh. His soon-to-be ex allegedly ripped the mirror off of his Mercedes.
Walsh said Athena Stefanidis, 41, of 51 Pimpewaug Road in Wilton went to get coffee Tuesday afternoon and spotted Konstatino Stefanidis, who moved out of her home two weeks ago, in the parking lot. Police said she demanded to know why he hadn't been returning her phone calls. He locked the doors of the car, which led to Tammy Stefanidis, 34, of 18 High Gate Drive in Westport calling Norwalk Police at 12:32 p.m. to say that her soon-to-be ex-sister-in-law was trying to get into her brother's car. Tammy Stefanidis was also in the car, police said.
Police found the mirror on Konstatino Stefanidis' Mercedes had been ripped off, Walsh said. An 18-year-old man came out of Starbucks to tell officers that he had witnessed the family members screaming and yelling at each other. Police said Konstatino Stefanidis came up to him, asked if he thought it was funny, told him to mind his own business and threatened to punch him in the face.
All three were charged with second degree breach of peace, a class B misdemeanor. Konstatino Stefanidis was also charged with second degree threatening, a class A misdemeanor, and Athena Stefanidis was also charged with third degree criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.
All were released on a promise to appear.
