During the operation, several stores were checked by using a 19-year-old volunteer to purchase alcoholic beverages under the observation of plainclothes investigators, said police officials.
According to police, three store clerks sold alcohol to the volunteer during the operation.
Those arrested included:
Ronald J. Germano, 75, of Poughkeepsie, employed by K & D Deli in Poughkeepsie.
Joanne Laurenzano, 56, of Poughkeepsie, employed by Bourbon Street Wine and Liquor in Hyde Park.
Dayana Gevargis, 57, of Hyde Park, employed by Julians Deli in Hyde Park.
They were charged with unlawful dealing with a minor, a misdemeanor charge. In addition, their employers face possible civil penalties by the State Liquor Authority, police said.
The police said they routinely conduct underage alcohol operations in an effort to curb alcohol abuse and driving while intoxicated incidents by teenagers.
