Three Bears Needs a Goldilocks

For $2.35 million (or less), the former Three Bears Restaurant could be yours. The property is on the market after attempts to lease it failed. The owners, the Vazzano family, owe more than $38,000 in back taxes. Westport has slapped two tax liens on the property.

Realtor John Zervos said the Vazzanos no longer have an interest in trying to make a restaurant work in that location. Three Bears filed for bankruptcy in October, 2008. Shortly thereafter, a new restaurant, Tiburon, leased the space but shut down last summer. The building has sat vacant ever since.

Town records appraise the 2.73 acre property at $2,344,500. Zervos hopes to find a new family restaurant for the location and says that the property has been shown a few times. One attraction is its large amount of parking space, unusual for a commercial property in this region. Another attraction: it's the site of what was Westport's oldest eating establishment.
