As of Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 9:35 a.m., 3,058 customers were experiencing an outage, primarily in the Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery area as well as West Point, according to Orange and Rockland's outage map.

The estimated time of restoration is currently 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Orange County Legislator Laurie Tautel, the problem stems from a substation in Harriman.

The utility company is now trying to isolate the issue and expects power to come back in increments throughout the area, Tautel added, also saying that she told them to focus on warming stations and a senior complex in Highland Falls.

A warming center has since been set up at the Fort Montgomery firehouse on Route 9W.

According to a US Military Academy spokesperson, most services at the installation are closed "until further notice."

West Point officials are working with Orange and Rockland counties to identify the cause of the outage and restore power.
