Thomas Haas Dead After Possible Assault: Prosecutor

A 51-year-old Camden man died after he was found unconscious on Monday, April 6, authorities said.

At 3:05 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the 500 block of Clinton Street in Camden in response to an unconscious man, Thomas Haas, on the ground, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said.

Haas was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after, authorities said. The Gloucester-Camden-Salem County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt torso trauma and the manner of death to be homicide, authorities said.

During the investigation, detectives located surveillance video showing the victim’s prior moments throughout the city but no footage of an assault or a specific crime scene has been located, authorities said.
