PELHAM, N.Y. A man's car was stolen from the exit of USA Car Wash this weekend after he left it to grab a towel, Pelham Manor police reported.
The victim hit and pulled on the thiefs shirt in an effort to stop him from taking the car, police said.
The thief then hit a light pole and crashed the car at the Gulf gas station across the street as he was trying to flee. An employee called the police to report a fire on the gas station property. The thief fled on foot toward the Fulton Avenue bridge.
Westchester Collision towed the vehicle. A red cell phone believed to be the thiefs was found in the driver's seat and was taken into evidence.
