The crash happened at the Tanger Outlets in Derry Township around 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, according to Derry Township police
Sharada Naganur, of Princeton, New Jersey, was parked or attempting to park her 2026 Tesla when the vehicle suddenly jumped a curb and turned sharply right, police said.
The Tesla traveled down a grass median toward the row of stores, striking a small tree and three parked vehicles before hitting a sign and entering the travel lane in front of the outlet stores, according to investigators.
Police said the vehicle was heading directly toward the Oakley Outlet storefront when Naganur jerked the steering wheel to the left, causing the Tesla to veer and crash into a support pillar outside the Victoria's Secret Outlet.
Naganur was the only person inside the Tesla. One person was inside one of the parked vehicles that was struck.
No injuries were reported.
According to police, Naganur told officers the Tesla "was driving on its own" and that she did not have control of the vehicle until she turned left moments before crashing into the pillar.
Investigators said there was no evidence that Naganur was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and she was legally permitted to operate the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
