Terrence Cooke, 73, Worked in Housing

STAMFORD, Conn. — Terrence Cooke, 73, of Ridgefield, died Dec. 15 after battling cancer. He was born and raised in Ansonia.

He provided technical and financial assistance to local nonprofit sponsors of subsidized housing while working at a number of entities, including the Stamford Development Corp. In 1971, he founded a real estate management company in Stamford, Terrance Cooke & Co. Inc., which became the Phoenix Management Corp. in 1989.

In his free time, Cooke was a member of the State Street Debating Society and was named its “man of the year” in 2004. Cooke was also a member of the Cos Cob Rifle and Revolver Club, and the Ramapoo Rifle and Revolver Club in Ridgefield.

Cooke is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcia Drew Baldwin; sons Thomas J. Cooke, Noel F. Cooke and Brendan J. Cooke; brothers Anthony Cooke and Paul Cooke; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Cooke.

Calling hours will be Dec. 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Basilica in Stamford.
