Sullivan County Forced To Euthanize Abandoned Dog

SULLIVAN COUNTY, N.Y. -- A dog found abandoned in a ditch early Tuesday was euthanized after officials found the animal's condition to be extremely poor, according to Time Warner Cable News Hudson Valley.

According to the report, the dog was found about 1 a.m. Tuesday. It appeared to have been neglected and had infections and sores throughout its body, forcing the county to take action.

The report said that the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident along with the county's dog control officer. The identify of the owner has not yet been determined, the report said.
