Students Moving Up at Harrison Middle School

HARRISON, N.Y. - Nearly 100 Louis M. Klein Middle School students received recognition for excellence inside and outside the classroom Monday evening. Kids and their families filled the Harrison High School Performing Arts Center to be recognized for their achievements.

"You all have a lot to be proud of," Principal Scott Fried said. "This is always a special event that puts a smile on my face."

Awards ranged across different subjects and were sponsored by the Mack Goldner Foundation.

Parsons Memorial School teacher Jayne Marraccini represented the foundation and said the recognition ceremony made it a priority to include subjects outside of academics so students of different interests had the opportunity to be awarded.

"Difference is what makes us all people," Marraccini said. "It's what makes Harrison so great."

Jack Wilson is an eighth grader at the middle school and will be moving onto Harrison High School next year. He was awarded for academic excellence and said he was nervous, but excited to take the next step in his education.

His mother Janne and father Wade said they were proud to be recognizing their son.

"He worked hard," Wade Wilson said. "His hard work is paying off, and he ended the year on a positive note."

Janne Wilson said she was impressed by the school's efforts to award students for their different talents outside of the classroom.

"The awards were well-deserved," she said.
