DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. The holiday season has come to an end and that means students and teachers will be back in school for the first time in 2012. With a long recess to enjoy the free time, local residents found ways to utilize that vacation.
Our school days are filled with homework and sports activities so it's very important to me that I give my kids plenty of downtime when school is out so that they can use their imaginations, be outside and bond with their cousins that they don't get to see on a regular basis, said Lisa Ferrara, the Dobbs Ferry PTSA president.
The winter vacation is a time most use to relax and bond with family and friends, but its not just a vacation for the kids, though.
As parents, this is a great vacation for us too because it involves little driving and scheduling and more time talking and spending time with brothers and sisters and parents and catching up on each others busy lives, Ferrara said.
Now that students are back in the classroom, many are looking ahead to 2012 and what it may bring for everyone
In this New Year, we are grateful for the partnerships that enhance our work as stewards of the education of our communitys children, said Dobbs Ferry Superintendent Lisa Brady in a message to parents.
