Stuart Patton Charged With Strangling Granddaughter

A grandfather is accused of strangling his granddaughter to stop her from driving drunk, police announced on Tuesday, March 17.

Stuart L. Patton, 70, of Lititz, was charged after officers responded to a domestic on the 500 block of Chickadee Drive on Sunday, March 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to Lititz Borough Police.

The victim told officers an argument turned physical and Patton applied pressure to her throat during the incident, police detailed.

Patton told officers he was attempting to stop his granddaughter from driving after he suspected she had been drinking, and the situation escalated, according to police.

He was charged with:

  • Felony Strangulation – Applying Pressure To Throat Or Neck.
  • Misdemeanor Simple Assault.
  • Summary Harassment – Subject Other To Physical Contact.

Patton was transported to Lancaster County Prison for immediate preliminary arraignment, police said.

A preliminary hearing is pending.
