Strong thunderstorms are headed toward Fairfield County on Wednesday. The National Weather Service was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lake Carmel, N.Y., moving east at 30 mph.
The storm could include small hail, lightning, winds of up to 40 mph and heavy rain, with rates of up to one inch per hour. Areas with poor drainage may experience minor flooding. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
Occasional showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly before 3 a.m. Thursday. More thunderstorms and showers are forecasted in the area through Saturday.
