After two straight days of temperatures in the mid-90s, the skies opened up in Stamford Thursday night, bringing heavy downpours and booming thunder. Although the sun returnednot nearly as strong as earlier in the weekdowned power lines and tree limbs could be found throughout the city.
As many as 1,100 Connecticut Light & Power customers were without electricity at about 1 a.m. Friday morning. As of 1 p.m. there were still 142 customers in Stamford without power, Connecticut Light & Powers website says.
