Darrell Sheets of A&E’s hit show "Storage Wars," died on Wednesday, April 22, at the age of 67. Authorities in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, confirmed that his death appeared to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Variety.

Sheets was one of the original cast members of the show, appearing in over 160 episodes from the show’s debut in 2010 until 2023. Known for his high-risk bidding style, he earned the nickname "The Gambler" for his willingness to take big financial risks in search of valuable storage units.

He was famous for his catchphrase, "This is the WOW factor!" and made several legendary finds during his career, including:

  • Frank Gutierrez Art Collection: A $3,600 locker purchase that contained artwork appraised at $300,000.
  • Historical Documents: Four original Pablo Picasso sketches and a letter written by Abraham Lincoln, which sold for over $15,000.
  • Comic Book Collection: A unit containing over 3,000 comic books valued at $90,000.

Sheets often appeared on the show alongside his son, Brandon Sheets, nicknamed "The Sidebet," whom he mentored in the storage auction business.

After leaving the show, Sheets retired to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he operated an antique and resale shop called Havasu Show Me Your Junk. He became a well-known figure in the community, hosting fellowship groups and community events at his shop.

Sheets faced significant health struggles in his later years. In 2019, he suffered a mild heart attack and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Following his health scare, he became a spokesperson for Nutri-System and lost 40 pounds to improve his well-being.

Brandon Sheets, Darrell’s son, left "Storage Wars" after Season 9 and transitioned into a successful career in real estate. He remains active on social media, sharing updates about his life and career.

Darrell Sheets’ career was defined by his bold personality, massive financial risks, and legendary payouts. His death has left fans and the reality TV community mourning the loss of a true icon.
