Staten Island resident Steven Greco, 53, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 25, after an investigation into the fire at a Hurleyville residence, according to the Town of Fallsburg Police Department.

The investigation began on March 12, 2025, when Fallsburg Police responded to the home to help the Hurleyville Fire Department and Sullivan County fire investigators. Authorities found that a fire had broken out inside the garage and found evidence indicating it may have been intentionally set, police said.

Several vintage cars, a utility terrain vehicle, and the inside of the garage were damaged by the flames.

Investigators later found surveillance footage from the property that they said showed an unknown person entering the home overnight and intentionally setting fire to vehicles inside the garage, according to police. Fallsburg detectives investigated the incident and ultimately identified Greco as the suspect, the department said.

Greco was taken into custody and charged with third-degree arson and second-degree burglary, both felonies.

He was arraigned in Fallsburg Justice Court before Judge Scheinman and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
