Nine Stamford Public Schools students were named "Commended Students" in the 2011 National Merit program, Stamford Superintendent of Schools Joshua Starr has announced. Because of their high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, they were among the top 50,000 or about the top 3 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who took the 2009 test.Stamford's Commended Students are Kathleen Clark, Claire Hosinski and Annaliese Sehulster of Stamford High School; Zachary Eisen, Caleb Novins, Anna Schlessinger and Richard Zheng of Westhill High School; and Chris Kremer of the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering.
