Raphael Ray and Dan Marriott won two events each for Staples as it swept a tri-meet Thursday against Bridgeport Central and Brien McMahon. The Wreckers beat Central, 129-20, and the Senators, 102-48.
Ray won the 400 and 200, while Marriott captured the discus and shot put. High jumper Colin Davis set a personal best in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches, to win the event. The sophomores previous best was 5 feet, 6 inches. He qualified for the Class LL meet with the result.
Other individual winners for the Wreckers included Henry Wynne (1,600), Ben Aldrich (3,200), Jeff Caffrey (800) and Dean Hefnawy (pole vault). Staples also won the three relays.
Staples' girls team is also 3-0 on the young season after victories this week over McMahon and Central. The Wreckers won, 93-52, over McMahon, and 145-0 over Central. The girls will be competing Saturday at the New York Invitational.
