Darien's Stephanie Winsch, a senior who competes for New Canaan Crew, has committed to attending the University of Notre Dame, coach Martin Stone announced Tuesday.
Winsch rowed for all four years at New Canaan, which competes out of the Norwalk-based Maritime Rowing Club. She is serving as the team captain this year for New Canaan Crew, which wraps up its season this weekend at the U.S. Youth Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Winsh finished third in the women's junior B 4x at the Club National Championships in 2008 and was named the team's Most Improved Rower last year. She helped her team win the 2010 Northeast Regional championship in the Women's 4x. That unit finished third at last year's national championships.
