Stamford's Rogers School Sends Off First Grads

STAMFORD, Conn. — The first group of eighth-grade students to attend Stamford’s Rogers International School since kindergarten graduated Tuesday from the self-described "green school for global citizens."

“This class was in kindergarten when we began [the International Baccalaureate program], so they have been in the program all nine years they were with us,” Principal Cathy Cummings said in a press release expressing how proud she was of the class.

The 67 graduates donned navy blue gowns and shared their reflections about the impact Rogers has had on their life and is expected to have going forward, based on the focuses of the program designed to develop people who, according to the school's core beliefs, are "inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective."

Students will be headed to several high schools in the fall, including Stamford High School, Westhill High School, Academy of Information, Techonology, & Engineering, Trinity Catholic High School, Fairfield Prep, Fordham Prep, The Avenues, King Low Heywood Thomas, Brien McMahon High School and The Center for Global Studies.
