It's the hometown of Stamford Public School history teacher Michelle Pusser and her niece, Mikala Hagemeier, a freshman at the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering. Together the two have launched an aggressive fundraising effort to help the Missouri community that was stricken by the May 22nd storm. They have already collected $850 and their goal is to double that amount by the end of this week. Donations of cash or checks (made out to either the American Red Cross or Americares) can be dropped off or mailed to Pusser at AITE (411 High Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06905) For further information, contact [email protected].More than 3,000 attended one of the largest community health fairs geared to children and families, the 11th Annual Yerwood Center Family Day held recently at the center and nearby Jackie Robinson Park. Honored during the festivities were Dr. Madhu Mathur and Thomas Hynes, who received service awards for their involvement and commitment to the community. The event was an opportunity for families to participate in fun-filled activities while learning about and connecting with various local agencies and organizations.
