The suspect, Christopher Jones, 29, told police that he and the other man were fighting, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said. The other man was strangled him, so Jones said he pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man twice in self-defense, Hohn said.
Jones was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and first-degree failure to appear, police said. He was held on $2,500 bond.
The victim has been hospitalized since the incident June 4 and was expected to be charged for his part in the incident once he is released, Hohn said. Information investigators received showed the two had been fighting and the stabbing was in self-defense, he said.
