STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with possession of a hallucinogen after police found that he had PCP during a traffic stop, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.
Officers stopped a vehicle being driven by Guillermo Torres, 30, when they saw it speeding on Lockwood Avenue, Shawinsky said. Officers smelled PCP when they approached the vehicle, he said. They took Torres out of the vehicle and found five packages of what appeared to be PCP in his upper, front shirt pocket, the sergeant said.
“It’s PCP and I smoke it,” Torres told police when asked, Shawinsky said.
The incident took place just after midnight on Monday, police said.
The female passenger in the vehicle was let go, he said. Torres was charged with possession of a hallucinogen more than four ounces, police said. He was released on a promise to appear in court on April 8, police said.
