Stamford Junior Legion Moves Into First

The Stamford Legion Oscar Cowan Post 3 Junior team swept Ridgefield, 10-3 and 3-2, to improve to 7-2 overall and take over first place in the Zone 4 standings.

In the opening game against Ridgefield, Logan McCullough improved his record to 3-0 by going the distance once again while striking out six batters. The offense took advantage of poor defensive play by Ridgefield throughout the day. The game was very close until Stamford broke it open with five runs in the seventh.

The next day, Peter Dawson earned his first win in the 3-2 victory. Dawson kept Stamford in the game after allowing Ridgefield to jump out to a 2-0 lead. He then held Ridgefield scoreless the rest of the game and pitched all seven innings.

Stamford got on the board scoring two runs in the sixth to tie the game. Logan McCullough's booming double sparked the inning. In the bottom of the seventh, after a walk and a stolen base by Bryan Pieschel, Billy Druehl doubled home the winning run.

Stamford leads by one game over Trumbull.

Stamford is scheduled to host Wilton Thursday at Cubeta Stadium. Stamford hosts Trumbull on Friday at Westhill, and has games on both weekend days against Bridgeport.
