Stamford Chef Wins Maple Syrup Challenge

STAMFORD, Conn. — The grilled panini with bacon glazed in maple and black pepper; roasted chicken; and melted, smoked artisan cheddar cheese from Vermont allowed Erick Anderson to win the third annual Chef’s Challenge in Stamford.

The chef from David’s Soundview Catering in Stamford followed up the panini with red velvet whoopee pies with maple cream cheese filling, a news release said. The challenge pitted four local chefs against each other to design recipes inspired by maple syrup. It took place at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s Maple Sugar Festival Weekend in the first week of March.

“Of course it’s an honor and a thrill to win,” Anderson said in the release.
