The Stamford Sharks bantam team kept up a solid attack on Saturday night, but Greenwich's James Piotrzkowski was stellar in net for the Greenwich Blues team, racking up 22 saves. Four different Blues scored in a flurry of offense in the second period as Greenwich took down the Sharks team, 4-0, at Dorothy Hamill Rink in Connecticut Hockey Conference action.
After a quiet first period, the Blues exploded on offense. Eryk Wilgos snuck one by Stamford's goalie off a good pass from Peter Johnson at the 14 minute mark. The Blues netted two goals in a minute-and-a-half with Kevin Piotrzkowski finding the net and Anthony Marciano firing a slap shot past the Stamford goalie. Greenwich added a backbreaker with seven seconds to play in the second period when Brian Silard jammed the puck in after a scrum in front of the net.
Stamford played strong in the third period, getting half of their 22 shots on net in the final frame. Jamie Rich, Griffin Northrop, and Matt Carlson all played well for the Sharks, but Piotrzkowski gobbled up all their chances on goal.
With the loss, Stamford falls to 2-2.
