First Selectman Gordon Joseloff declared May 22 through 29 as National Boating Safety Week in Westport. He presented the proclamation to the Saugatuck River Sail and Power Squadron (SRSPS) on May 12. Grant Kominek, Joseph Schachter, Russell Levine, Harrison Valante, Art Voldstad and Gordon Bavor accepted the plaque.
The squad will offer free vessel safety examinations to boaters in the coming weeks. The first will be at Dimes Compo Basin, May 29. Additional dates will be announced later. The inspections are available to residents of Westport, Wilton, Weston, Norwalk and New Canaan by appointment.
