Speeding Hackensack Driver Charged In Jersey City Crash: Prosecutor

A 36-year-old Hackensack man was arrested and charged following a serious crash in Jersey City, authorities announced Monday, May 4.

At 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14,  Jersey City police responded to Routes 1&9 between Duncan Avenue and Communipaw Avenue and found two vehicles with extensive injuries, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

The driver of a black Honda Accord, a 21-year-old Jersey City man, was treated for minor injuries while Anthony Pena-Ceri, the driver of a white Honda Accord, and a passenger, both sustained serious injuries, Mello said.

Pena-Ceri was operating at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, Mello said. He is charged with assault by auto, Mello said.
