Actress Tina Sloan discusses her writing debut and appreciation for getting older Monday at the New Canaan Library. Sloan, who starred on daytime soap "Guiding Light" for 26 years, will speak about her book "Changing Shoes" at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Lamb Room. The visit is part of the Authors Series sponsored by the Friends of New Canaan Library.

Sloan's long-playing role on "Guiding Light" provided ample opportunities for her to learn the skill of evolving and growing when faced with transitions. Using personal anecdotes, humor and wisdom, Sloan tackles the issues and emotions most women eventually face -- shifts in family, looks and career -- with solid advice and the appropriate choice in footwear. Sloan underscores her commitment to living life to the fullest with inspirational stories and "how to" advice on keeping the right perspective as one ages.

In addition to "Guiding Light," Sloan has appeared in many television shows, including "Third Watch" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." She has also appeared in feature films, including "The Brave One" and "Changing Lanes." In addition to shooting two new films, Sloan is touring nationally for her one-woman show "Changing Shoes."
