The snowfall Friday afternoon may not be another blizzard. But it has been causing its share of problems for Westport drivers.
Since the heavy band of snow moved into town at about 1 p.m., Westport Police Capt. Sam Arciola said the department has been receiving a steady stream of emergency calls.
"It's been very, very busy. Pretty much nonstop calls," Arciola said. "We're tied up with car accidents and reports of disabled vehicles. Road conditions are very poor."
This has caused a number of places around town to close. Currently, Earthplace is closed and all events, including a Zumba fitness fundraiser scheduled for 7 p.m., have been canceled. The Center for Senior Actives has closed and will remain closed Saturday. The Westport/Weston Family Y is closing at 5 p.m., and all classes and team practices have been canceled.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
