At 12:36 a.m., Franklin Township police responded to Porchtown Road after a witness reported they heard gunshots and came downstairs to find Christina Cruz, 30, lying in the living room, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew Johns said.
Ricardo Ferrara was arguing with Cruz two hours before the shooting, Johns said. A second witness, who was in a first-floor bedroom, reported hearing the argument followed by two gunshots and a thud, Johns said.
Ferrara fled the scene after the shooting, police said. He is charged with murder in the first degree and multiple weapons offenses, Johns said.
He is a Hispanic man, 6'1" tall and weighs 190 lbs., Johns said. He has brown hair and brown eyes, Johns said.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, Johns said. Members of the public are urged not to approach the individual and to immediately contact law enforcement by calling 911 if they see the suspect, Johns said.
Ferrera is known to frequent Millville, Vineland, and Atlantic City, Johns said.
