Most people remember "Jaws" as a terrifying thriller about a great white shark on a mission to kill. But Wilton filmmaker Megan Smith-Harris, who moderates a film series at the library, offers up another view from a documentary that she calls "one big love letter" to the blockbuster summer movie.
"The Shark is Still Working," is a fan-made documentary created by Jake Gove that focuses on how Steven Spielberg's 1975 thriller has shaped pop culture. Narrated by the late Roy Scheider, who played Chief Martin Brody in "Jaws," the documentary shows new interviews with members of the cast and crew as well as other filmmakers speaking about the movie's impact.
The New Perspectives Documentary Series will show "The Shark is Still Working" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 at the Wilton Library. The documentary is part of a special double-feature as the library will show "Jaws" at 4 p.m. in honor of its 35th anniversary. Both are free to attend, but Smith-Harris and the library encourage donations.
