The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Wednesday to Dutchess County residents regarding the residency of 33-year-old Theodore Smith, who has moved into an address on Snow Terrace in Poughkeepsie.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Smith as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Smith had sexual intercourse with his 15-year-old victim in Poughkeepsie after coercing her in December 2003. He was arrested by the Poughkeepsie City Police Department on a misdemeanor sexual misconduct charge and sentenced to six years probation and time served at an undisclosed local jail. He remains under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.
