Intercon Chemical Co. issued the voluntary recall for six hand soap products, according to a Food and Drug Administration enforcement report classified on Friday, Sept. 11.

The soaps were distributed through wholesalers and a retailer in New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. They were also available in North Carolina, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia, California, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, and Washington.

The recall affects:

  • Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe
  • Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe
  • Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap
  • Vestis Foaming Hand Soap Fresh Pear Scent
  • Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap
  • Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap with Moisturizers

The FDA said the Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe and Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe could contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas monteilii, Serratia marcescens, and Serratia nematodiphila. The other four products were recalled because of potential bacterial contamination.

The FDA classified all six as "Class II" recalls. That means a product could "cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences," while the probability of "serious adverse health consequences" is low.

Intercon Chemical Co. initiated the recall on Monday, June 29.
