Driver Killed When Car, Oil Truck Collide On Route 302 In Crawford (Update)

A crash that shut down part of Route 302 in Orange County on Friday morning, Feb. 20, has now been confirmed as fatal. 

The crash happened at around 9:40 a.m. on Friday, when officers responded to a serious crash on Route 302 near Burlingham Road involving a passenger vehicle and an oil truck, according to the Town of Crawford Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found the driver of a 2005 Toyota Camry trapped inside the vehicle with fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver and passenger of the oil truck were evaluated and treated at the scene by Pine Bush Ambulance. Their conditions were not immediately released.

As Daily Voice previously reported, Route 302 was closed in the area of Burlingham Road shortly after 11 a.m. due to the crash. The roadway has since reopened.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Town of Crawford Police Department with assistance from the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Additional details, including the identity of the victim, have not yet been released.
