Ayesha Wright, 42, and her passenger, Kendra Rouse, 25, were killed in the crash on the eastbound local lanes at milepost 56.8, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
At 9:08 a.m., a Mack tractor hauling a utility trailer was heading east approached a Chevrolet sedan stopped in traffic in the left lane, according to a preliminary investigation. The Mack driver attempted an evasive steering maneuver and the tractor-trailer overturned onto the Chevrolet, Lebron said.
Wright and Rouse were killed, while the driver of the Mack suffered minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
