Former Dover Town Supervisor and current Planning Board Chairman Ryan Courtien was found safe Friday evening, July 17, New York State Police said.

Police said only that they were notified by Dutchess County 911 of a possible sighting of the 49-year-old at the Harlem Valley–Wingdale Train Station on Wheeler Road in the Town of Dover, just before 6 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Deputies with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, who were already in the area, responded and confirmed the man was Courtien, police said. He was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation, according to state police. Authorities declined to provide further details.

Earlier Friday, investigators said they had confirmed Courtien was last seen at approximately 12:38 p.m. Sunday, July 12, after exiting a Metro-North train at Grand Central Terminal and walking toward Madison Avenue. Police said he appeared to be traveling alone.

Courtien currently serves as chairman of Dover's Planning Board and was the town's supervisor from 2008 to 2015.

State police credited the public with helping bring the search to a safe conclusion.

"The information provided by the public was instrumental in the safe location and recovery of Ryan."

Police said no further information was available.
