The incident leading to the arrest began at around 6:40 a.m. on Monday, June 8, when troopers stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on Myers Corners Road in the Town of Wappinger for a traffic violation, New York State Police announced on Wednesday, June 10.

According to investigators, before the vehicle was stopped, it struck the rear of another uninvolved vehicle.

Troopers identified the driver as 57-year-old Scott K. Deines of Wappinger Falls. Police said Deines showed signs of intoxication and was administered standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Deines was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Wappinger for processing. There, he provided a breath sample that registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.28 percent, according to police.

Deines was charged with aggravated DWI per se 0.18 percent or more with a prior conviction within 10 years, as well as vehicle and traffic law violations.

He will appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on July 7.
