Bedford, NY--Heavy rains didn't dampen these students' spirits on the first day of school in Bedford and Mount Kisco on Tuesday.
Part of the fun for 2-and-a-half-year old Mackenzie Oram of Mount Kisco was selecting the perfect outfit to wear as she began pre-school at the Mount Kisco Boys & Girls Club.
Mom Denise Bednarczyk said her favorite part was "Watching Mackenzie glow as she entered her classroom for the first time and found a desk with her name on it." Mackenzie quickly made herself at home in her new school saying "Mommy, do you think I can stay for a little while longer, please?"
Also on Tuesday,Lizzy Weiner's son Jake Elman started 9th Grade at Fox Lane High School. Her daughter, Amanda Elman,is now a 6th Grader at Fox Lane Middle School.
Weiner says it was a bittersweet moment for her when her son reached out to his Facebook friends, asking them to look after his younger sister in school.
