School Buses Crash In Riverhead

A crash involving two school buses sparked a large emergency response and delayed traffic during the afternoon commute on Long Island Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Emergency crews in Riverhead responded to the intersection of Northville Turnpike and Doctors Path around 3:30 p.m. for reports of a collision between a school bus and car, according to preliminary radio traffic.

First responders clarified the collision involved two mini school buses.

Firefighters and at least four ambulances were on scene, according to preliminary radio traffic. 

It was not immediately clear whether students were on board or if anyone was injured.

Drivers were encountering minor delays near the scene, Google traffic data showed.
